Welcome to
the Bible as Music
Web site!
Over
the past millennium, classical composers have written countless sacred
works for the Church. While the texts of these compositions
are Christian in theology, only a fraction of the works quote or
strictly paraphrase passages from Scripture.
How much of the Bible
could be represented by choral music? The purpose of this
Web site is to provide the most comprehensive Scripture index possible
to answer that question.
In addition, it
is hoped that this site may be used as a tool by pastors and church
musicians for locating and programming quality music for their services.
May this rich Christian musical heritage be
rediscovered, may the quality of our church music be improved, and may
it all further advance the Kingdom of our Lord & Savior*, Jesus
Christ.
* Dear Friend, have you
placed your faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died for the
forgiveness of our sins? Your eternal destiny is at stake, so
please don't put off
inviting Christ into your heart! Jesus said that He is
the only way to the Father in Heaven.
